Starting therapy should feel easy. Here’s how insurance, your first visit, and ongoing sessions work.
In-network insurance
BrightSpot Center accepts insurance. We’re finalizing our list of in-network plans ahead of opening — send us your plan when you join the waitlist and we’ll verify your benefits for you.
Do I need a referral?
Many insurance plans require a prescription or referral for occupational therapy from your child’s pediatrician or physician. We’ll let you know if yours does and help you get it.
What will I pay?
Your cost depends on your plan’s copay, coinsurance, and deductible. We’ll share what we find when we verify your benefits, before your first appointment.

Evaluation
About 60–90 minutes of play-based and standardized assessment, plus time to talk through your concerns.
Ongoing sessions
Typically weekly sessions, with home strategies and progress check-ins along the way.
Common questions
How do I know if my child needs occupational therapy?
Common signs include trouble with handwriting or fine motor tasks, big reactions to noise, textures, or transitions, difficulty with dressing or daily routines, clumsiness, trouble focusing, or struggles that started after a head injury. If something feels off, trust your instincts — an evaluation will give you clear answers.
What ages do you see?
Our primary focus is children and teens. We also see teens and adults for concussion and brain injury rehabilitation, functional vision rehabilitation, and LSVT BIG.
What does a therapy session look like?
For kids, sessions usually look a lot like play — and that’s on purpose. Every activity is chosen to build specific skills. Parents are welcome to observe and we’ll share strategies you can use at home.
Does my child need a diagnosis?
No. Many families come to us before any diagnosis. Your insurance plan may require a physician referral, which we can help with.
